Meet our beloved fox, taking a moment to enjoy the serenity of the woods. We should all be so lucky!
Ever since my 5x7 winter fox print sold out, I've been wanting to work on another fox print but in a larger size and with more trees. This time I took inspiration not just from the woods but the change in seasons too. The blue is reminiscent of the color I sometimes see in the shadows in the snow in January & February. The green is based on the colors of the trees in late spring, when all of the buds are bursting out, but the leaves haven't fully unfurled.
The trees are stylized versions of some of my favorites- white birch, cherry, poplar and maple. I hope to do two more versions of this, based on the colors of summer and fall.
This is a three color print, however the background color was printed last and overlaps some of the trees, muting them a bit and creating a fourth color. Printed from three carved linoleum blocks on lush 100% cotton paper. Easily fits into an 8” x 10” matte or frame.
